People That Play An Important Part

The District Deputy and the Council

There will be times when direction and questions will come up. Your District Deputy should be your friend and advisor. He is there to aid and assist your council. The District Deputy is hand picked by the State Deputy to act as his liaison and that of the Supreme Office. His role is to help you and your council be successful. He will have programs, ideas and answers to many of your questions and will provide an important connection between the other councils in your district. He and other appointed or selected State officers are valuable resources for your council. Do not hesitate to call them and ask them for assistance when needed. Most District Deputies have been Grand Knights too and know how important your position is to the success of your council.

Elected and Selected State Officers

You may have elected or selected state officers in your council or district. Offer them your help and support and be willing to listen to their advise and counsel. At the beginning of the Fraternal Year, you will receive an Illinois State Council Directory. In this directory are the names, address, phone numbers and email address of over 100 Knights who can and are willing to help you achieve success. Always remember, "None of us are as smart as all of us". Everyone wants to see you succeed, but you have to be willing to ask and accept advise.

Agency Field Representatives

Also, do not forget the Insurance Agency field reps. They can be, and are your council’s friends. Use them and abuse them for membership and program information and help. The Field Reps have many councils to cover and members to see and serve, so the best way to insure that they attend a council meeting is to invite them. These men are brother Knights just as you and your members are, the love the order and are vast store houses of knowledge. Besure to schedule a Benefits Night for the Council and make sure you check the date with the Field Rep, in fact the best way to assure proper communications is to ask the Field Rep to chair the evening for you.
