Cartridge
Recycling Program for Special Olympics
Purpose
This program is a revitalization of an older program
and proceeds from the program go to support the efforts
of Special Olympics Illinois.
The Program
Under this program, councils collect old toner and
ink cartridges from dot matrix and laserjet printers,
copiers, and fax machines copy machines, and other equipment
used in reproducing images. Old cell phones may also
be turned in under this program
Core Recycling Concept is working with Special Olympics
Illinois and are the company that will pay for your
old cartridges and cell phones. Core Recycling will
pay for a wide variety of cartridge makes and models,
some at $2.00 up to $35.00. They will send the recycling
boxes right to the Council with a UPS label on them
to send back.
To participate in the program, councils need to establish
an account with Core Recycling. As an example, Streator
Council #790 has set up an account with Core Recycling
and in a short time raised $121.60 to support Special
Olympics.
Core Recycling does not reimburse the councils directly,
but sends the funds directly to Special Olympics Illinois
and keeps track of the amount credited to each council.
Each council participating in the program will receive
a statement that can be used by the council to provide
proof of support for recognition by Supreme Council
and to receive credit for participation in the State
Council’s program for support of Special Olympics Illinois.
