Worthy Grand Knights and Financial Secretaries,

Thank you to all of you who have already submitted your nominations for the Blessed McGivney, Knight of the Year, Family of the Year, Program of the Year, and Illinois in Action awards.  Denny and I have received many great nominations and we know there are other strong nominations of deserving brother knights yet to be submitted.  We are resending this email as a reminder.  This is a great way to honor and recognize the achievements of members of your council.

Please take a few minutes to meet with your council leadership and complete the forms for the following five awards and email them to me at stewartmattson@comcast.net and copy Denny Shook, State Executive Secretary: denny@illinoisknights.org.  Due date is March 31st for all awards.

• Blessed Michael McGivney Award – This award is for the council chaplain whose priestly zeal and exemplary service are in the finest traditions of our Founder. This is a great way to honor your council chaplain.  The state winner is automatically eligible for the Supreme Blessed McGivney Award.  Please complete the attached State Blessed McGivney form or click here.

• Knight of the Year Award - This award is for the brother knight who best demonstrates the values of the Knights of Columbus.  This is a great way to honor someone in your council for their hard work.  Please complete the online form at www.illinoisknights.org or click here.  Please make sure to select "Knight of the Year" in the "For the Month of" dropdown menu.

• Family of the Year Award – This award is for the family in your council that best demonstrates Catholic values. This is a great way to honor a member of your council and parish.  Please complete the attached Form 10680 or click here.

• Program of the Year Award – Every council has a program that is unique and special. Please take a few minutes to nominate that program for Program of the Year.  A program of the year will be awarded in each of the four Faith in Action categories.  Please complete the attached State Service Award Program form or click here.

• Illinois in Action Award – This award is for overall excellence in membership growth, safe environment compliance, meeting state charity goals, and performing Faith in Action programs for your parish. Councils can receive a gold award for 500 points or more, a silver award for 400-499 points, and a bronze award for 300-399 points.  Please complete the attached IL SP7 form and submit it or click here.  The due date is 3/31/24. Completing this form will give you a head start on your Columbian Award and Star Council 

Please note that councils must be safe environment compliant AND +1 on membership to be eligible for the awards listed above.
